Hidden Hertiage in
Bushes – Bhairav Temple of Barsur
Does not know how many historical
heritage is hidden inside Barsur. Kedarnath Thakur had mentioned 147 temples
and 147 ponds in ancient Barsur in his book, Bastar Bhushan. But many
historical temples were destroyed in exterior attacks. The ruined remains due
to the ignorance of the people have now become landless. Some of the demolished
temples have been saved by the people here because of their faith. Nature also
plays an important role in protecting those demolished temples from scattering.
Spanning the four-cornered
bushes, they kept hidden the unseen history hidden from peoples. There is an
ancient demolished temple near the Battisa Temple which is completely hidden in
the bushes. This temple is very close to the main road. Even after several
programs have been organized in Barasur till today, the shrubs around the
temple have not been cut, due to which the people have no information about
this temple. I have gone to Barasar several times. I had no information about
this temple. Neither did I ever see any photo of it. I saw this temple for the
first time. History is around us but it can not be seen. Very few people have
seen this temple.
This demolished temple in the
thick bush towards the right side Of Battisa Temple. Local residents here have
preserved the stones of this temple. Now this temple is in the right condition
rather than other demolished temples. It was a small temple which was based on
the sanctum sanctorum. This temple is about 5 feet high. It can be entered only
by sitting. Inside sanctum sanctorum, a nude image of Bhairava has been kept.
Such a huge statue is set in the
courtyard of Bhairam Baba Temple of Bhairamgarh. This temple will also have
been built in approximately 10-11th century. The invaders have completely
destroyed this temple. The villagers have kept this ancient heritage safe.
Even now many temples in Barasur
are buried . Digging in Barasur, more ancient temples, statues, inscriptions
can be found. Important information related to Naga Age and other dynasties may
be obtained. Administration should also make an access route through
cleanliness around such historic temples in Barasur. Administration should also
be cleaned around such historic temples.
